One finished (finally) quilt!

So let me tell you about this quilt. This is the second quilt I ever made, even though it’s my fourth or fifth to get finished. I started it about a year and a half ago, as a promise to my sister that I was going to make her a quilt for her birthday that February. She specifically asked for red, gold, and teal colors… so I did my best.

Well, her birthday came and went. Last Christmas came and went. Her next birthday came and went. Well, it’s finally done, so she can have it now. As a super-duper late present. One of the reasons it took so long is that I had to leave and come back to it. But the real reason is that when I started this quilt, I didn’t know any of the tricks I do now to help speed things along. So I cut out each strip individually and drew the 1/4” seam on each one by hand… there was a lot. Then I had to resize each block… it took awhile. I also didn’t want to make it too small… and before long I didn’t realize how big I had really made it. Oops!

The color is a little bleached in the above picture from going outside; it was a weird day, and as I said, I am no photographer. I’m working on that, honestly. Here’s a picture of it inside.

Anyways, she just got it today, and I hope she likes it!
